Great Job Beginners at Elsinore High

Great venue for wrestling at Elsinore High. Thanks always to the parents that brought their kids to wrestle. We placed 100% (6 out of 6) with 3 more beginner tournaments to go until the open season in the middle of January. I added an extra practice week on Friday for the Sante fe tournament. We still have some work to do and I'm hoping a practice two days before the tournament will help some kids turn that corner.
Kavika had another great day at 55 I and looks like he will have a little rivalry with the kid that took 2nd Place. Kavika continues to work and hustle the entire 3 minutes of wrestling and took 1st Place this weekend. Nice shots, nice half-nelson, and nice hustling.
JoJo is understanding the concept of wrestling and now is applying it on the mat with a 2nd Place finish. Way to listen and finish with a pin.
Nathan Tello has the hardest division with the most wrestlers in his division. Nathan took 5th, but is always shooting and wrestling. The more he shoots the more he learns. You can't win against a better guy if all you do is sprawl. I look for great things in the future for Nathan.
Luis Tello came out motivated and eager to wrestle. He learned not to be timid on the mat and came out more aggressive this week. Luis took 2nd place.
Nathan Cabrera, my other favorite Nathan came out a little flat today but has all the athleticism to be a great wrestler. The two Temecula brothers came out with a mission this week and avenged their losses from last week. Nathan has to work some moves on top and hopefully Fridays practice will help. Great heart, great kid.
Victor took 2nd place against a CA Grappler (a very old Conquest rivalry). Victor was my other kid who looked a little flat today. We have to wrestle at tournaments the way we practice in the room. This is why we go, to get the 'mat time' to make us better wrestlers. Victor wrestled better his 2nd match. Shoot.Shoot.Shoot. Victor can be a CA State Champ if he learns to shoot now. NO FEAR.
